Knowledge, friendships, travel: Five medalists from the last thirty years tell the Swiss Research Magazine Horizons what participating in a Science Olympiad brought them.

This year 865 students took part in the first round of the Physics Olympiad. 144 of them received an invitation to the physics camp and the second round. The threshold for a direct qualification was 12 points out of a maximum of 21 points.

From September 6 - 8, the Physics Olympiad organized a weekend for interested female students. The program: solving challenges, experimenting, visiting a laboratory and, of course, having lots of fun.

Das georgische Kutaisi veranstaltete vom 15. bis 19. Juli die 8. Europäische Physik-Olympiade, kurz EuPhO. Über 250 Schülerinnen und Schüler aus 54 Ländern stellten ihr Wissen unter Beweis. Die Schweizer Delegation legte ihre bisher beste Gesamtleistung an den Tag und holte vier Bronzemedaillen.
